This is tentative programme and could be subject to further changes!
This workshop will be held in Czech language only, no translation facilities will be available
The workshop will apply to problems of collecting and archiving of electronic resources, especially Internet resources. In the first part of the workshop audience will be acquainted how this issue is solved in libraries. The second section will be focused on other cultural institutions, which are archiving electronic data as well.
The workshop will include:
- introduction, problems and their solutions, current trends
- state-of-the-art abroad, acquainting with the most important projects
- state-of-the-art in the Czech Republic, the latest development of project WebArchiv
- librarian and organizational issues / administrative matters of the project, legislation, standards
- application of information technology / usage of appropriate software and hardware for long-term preservation
- state-of-the-art in other cultural institutions in the Czech Republic, which are dealing with archiving (e.g. archives, museums)
- development, expectations, trends, cooperation
Discussion is expected particularly on such topics as: Is archiving of electronic online resources necessary? For whom? Which institutions should take part in this process? How? etc.
