International Projects Focused on Reliable Online Usage Statistics

Abstract

The contribution informs about current results of the project COUNTER. This project has been developed to provide an international Code of Practice that allows the usage of online information products and services to be measured in a credible, consistent and compatible way using vendor–generated data. The COUNTER Code of Practice specifies the data elements to be measured , definitions of these data elements and the content of the usage reports. In the contribution the purposes of statistics for vendors, publishers and for libraries are evaluated.
