Abstract
The Manuscriptorium database contains records of digitized manuscripts and rare printed books that have been imported from various resources on library collections of historic value and created under the VISK projects. Data imports from XML structure adopted in the international project of MASTER and general text formats based on UNIMARC should be also mentioned. The Manuscriptorium database is a tool for interpretation of and making accessible to data which are independent of software and hardware items. The paper is focused on the initial phase of the project since its launching six months ago (i.e. experience searching, providing data to library systems, developing relevant tools etc.).
