Abstract: |
The paper describes procedures of website forming of all 120 offices belonging
to the branch of the Czech Office for Surveying, Mapping and Cadastre (COSMC). Experience gained during four years of
creating and updating this web information system as well as extent and impor-tance of these information sources and
also statistic review of visitor numbers are given. The most important thing was to find such solution during
solving this task that will be sufficiently robust from the point of stability of information system and also very
quick as regards updating velocity by minimal expenses. The philosophy of distributed website with central stored
data on one server was applied.
The work resulted in a very wide uniform website (consisting of 2936 documents) for all of 120 offices in the branch
of COSMC. Its monitoring reaches up more than sixty thousands provided documents per week during last weeks. But
already at the beginning of August 2001 the first million of provided documents were obtained from this website;
four millions were exceeded in February 2003. The branch of COSMC was the first governmental body that realised in a
uni-form way its on-line information system down to the level of district offices including their de-tached (branch)
offices. The merit of this work belongs to the Branch Information Centre of the Research Office of Geodesy,
Topography and Cartography (VÚGTK) located at the village of Zdiby. |

About the author: |
Milan Talich was graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague,
Faculty of Civil Engineering, Department of Geodesy and Cartography. Then he was engaged in the Research Office of
Geodesy, Topography and Cartography, working since 1987 in the International Centre of Earth´s Recent Crustal Movement
(ICRCM) at geodetic networks processing and geodynamic problems. In 1992 - 1993 he was at one-year stage in the
Institute of Applied Geodesy in Frankfurt/Main (IfAG), where he compiled the Czech, Slovak and Hungarian parts of the
European Reference System (EUREF) GPS network. Then he was engaged in solutions of GPS processing oriented to geodynamic
applications and to questions related to deformation analysis of those data.
Since 1995 he solved some problems of informatics in the Branch Information Centre (ODIS) of the VÚGTK. He was author
and leader of research group of the research task Automation of Library of ODIS. At present he works at information
systems oriented to web information.
In 2002, Milan Talich presented his doctorial thesis "Information Systems to On-Line Providing of Geodetic Information
and Their Creation". Some specialised lectures and exams during this study he passed at the Mathematic-Physical Faculty
of the Charles University. He became leader of ODIS on the base of a selection procedure at the beginning of 2003.
