Abstract
In this presentation, Dave will use three angry blog posts about libraries – written by both librarians and library users – as the basis to explore some of the wider issues facing the profession. Did we really embrace the user-centric principals of the Library 2.0 movement or are we still trying to turn our library users into mini-librarians? Are we the information gatekeepers or are we smashing down the barriers to information? This informal talk will also touch on areas such as library anthropology, usage data analysis, gamification, user experience (UX) design and why the University of Huddersfield decided to dump its OPAC!
