Abstract
The area of electronic publishing at the university (above all regarding journals and conference proceedings) is where the role of university library, publishing house, and individual content publishers meet. The proportion of engagement of each entity in the publishing process is based upon common agreement. An important aspect in terms of scientific publishing is meeting various international standards that are necessary in order to strengthen transparency in the scholarly publishing area. The role of the library is just in monitoring the important international publication standards, in their application (or in help with their application), and in their management. The library further provides information, consultations, and know-how to their implementation and use in its home institution. Another tool highly used by the scholarly publishers in the international environment is the journal management and publishing system (OJS – Open Journal Systems). OJS enables creating an environment and information infrastructure according to the requirements of the international scientific community and according to the international standards. It also provides a technical solution to implementing these international standards (DOI) for the interconnection of the content into the following information infrastructure (DOAJ, DSpace, etc.) The paper will describe the experience with implementing DOI at the CTU in Prague. DOI is today an almost necessary international identifier, a unique content identifier in the online environment that enables finding the original work. The implementation of CrossCheck, a plagiarism control tool, into all processes of educational and research material publishing at the university will be further discussed as well. We will then also describe the implementation of DOI and OJS and the preparation to CrossCheck implementation upon an example of one particular OA journal. The paper will also describe its interconnection with the following information infrastructure, such as DOAJ and DSpace, and the role of the library is this integration process.
