GENOTYPDATA is a universal information system for record keeping, classification, cataloguing, study, selection, and evaluation of genetic resources individual plant species. Genotypes are evaluated by quantitative and qualitative traits. The system works according to intelligent system, which enables fast access to different numeral, textual and image data obtained from variability study. Possibility to apply any plant species according to unified methodology and same structure provides versatility and strategy of open information system.
For elaboration of GENOTYPDATA was used programming language Visual Basic 6.0. The basic structure of system consists from database system connected with mathematical and logical module. The system was set up for operation systems – Microsoft Windows 98, 2000 and XP. Information system is debugged for free settings, user’s inputs and outputs. This provides maximal possibility of the system openness. For users the system provides fast and effectively to obtain process and use information for outputs in the area of plant genetic resources utilization. In the paper is presented module – GENOTYPDATA Linum. In to the catalogue were included 121 genotypes of flax. They were evaluated in 39 quantitative and qualitative traits. Genotypes classification was realized according to innovated list of descriptors. The part of the information system is database of image documentation. It consists approximately from 1080 detailed images of leaf, flower, capsule, and seed. Information system – GENOTYPDATA has practical utilization in the area of plant breeding, and for recording, evaluation and cataloguing of genetic resources in gene banks. Its possibility for use is also in an agriculture production, research and educational process.
Andrej Urbanovič studied at the university specialization – automatization, control techniques and information science in agriculture at the department of agriculture techniques, at the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra. He graduated in the year 2000.
Post doctorate study he took at the department of machines and production systems, at the faculty of agricultural engineering, at the Slovak Agricultural University in Nitra. Throughout the year 2005 will be his dissertation accepted for presentation. The subject of his dissertation was – Utilization of information systems in the management of technique for rape cultivation.
During the study and his work with computers he has acquired professional knowledge for controlling of operation systems Windows 9x, 2000, XP. He has also excellent knowledge for work in geographical software ArcView 3.1, 3.2 and 8.3 and configuration utilities Spatial Analyst, 3D Analyst a Geostatistical Analyst. He has acquired professional knowledge of programming language Visual Basic 6, .NET, and good knowledge of languages Turbo Pascal, Visual FoxPro a Borland C++. He has good knowledge of textual editors T602, Adobe Acrobat and excellent knowledge of Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, Mozilla, Corel Draw 8.0 a 9.0, Adobe Photoshop 7. He has also acquired good knowledge for the work with the software AutoCAD, and ProEnginer. He has got certificate for the statistical software SAS® Enterprise Guide™, which he partially controls. As the software developer he is an author of following specialized information systems and database information systems: GENOTYPDATA – Linum, GENOTYPDATA – Papaver, Encyclopedia of Plant Breeding and Seed Production in the Slovakia, Testing of Spraying Equality in 1.2, Geometric for ArcView, Aquatech.Author: Soňa Makulová, Comenius University - Faculty of Arts - Department of Library and Information Science, Slovakia
