This contribution deals with a method used for increasing competitive abilities of enterprises – competitive intelligence. This method is strictly based on ethical rules. Results of research done in the autumn 2004 among the most significant IT enterprises are presented here. The aim of research was to answer the questions whether enterprises use competitive intelligence, which information about competitors they search, how do they process them and where are the results of the intelligence used.
Author of this contribution graduated at Faculty of Technology, Tomas Bata University in Zlín. Nowadays she works as a lecturer in The Department of Informatics and Statistics, Faculty of Management and Economics at the same university. Since 2003 she has been studying Information and Library Studies at Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University in Brno. During her Ph.D. studies she solves problems of competitive intelligence.
