Shibboleth - Elegant Technology for Remote Access to Databases

Abstract
Shibboleth is a middleware designed by Internet2 consortium for authentication and Single-sign-on on WWW environment. In libraries Shibboleth is used as a solution for remote access to local and remote information resources. In the presentation there will be presented Shibboleth implemetation in libraries around the world, on systems of databases providers like Elsevier, EBSCO, JSTOR and on universities and libraries in Czech Republic.
About the author
Jiří Pavlík was graduated at Czech Technical University in 2000 and recieved a degree in Computer Science. Since 1995 Jiří Pavlík is working at Charles University Computer Science Centre. There he works as a system integrator for library systems, fulltext technonology solutions and multimedia using Apple systems. Since January 2006 he is a member of CESNET Shibboleth working group.
