Tools to Integrate Information Resources on the Internet and Their Practical Application in Libraries

Abstract

The contribution briefly describes the tools that are most frequently used for the integration of information resources, such as Z39.50, OpenURL, OAI and RSS, and focuses on the possibilities of their implementation in end-user oriented library systems.

By customizing these tools to the conditions of a particular institute or library, a new dimension to library services is opening for the users and wide public. The contribution concludes with an example of an existing implementation in a regional information center, which may serve as an inspiration.
