Problémy s využíváním OPAC: Vyřeší je systémy discovery a služby dodávání dokumentů?

Abstrakt
Polish libraries’ OPACs are definitely not perfect. Author’s research of their usability and research on end users behavior proved many problems in their information architecture and problems with using it by patrons. OPACs are not attractive but most important problem is that in many cases it is also hard to use, especially for people who try to use it for the first time. The author will analyze usability of Polish libraries’ OPACs. She will show problems as a case study and will consider how discovery and delivery solutions can help with those problems. During speech architecture information and usability new solutions for libraries will be analyzed in comparison with previous searching and presenting library data tools. Author will be considering what is better in discovery and delivery system out of the box, which problems will be solved just after implementing new system and what can be easily improved. Discovery and delivery solutions are something quite new for Polish libraries and it is a future for them, also. It is very important to learn analyzing previous mistake to avoid them in the future, to make library system front end intuitive, easy to use and even more – attractive to patrons and make them to come back to library discovery and delivery solution with pleasure instead of using different, not connected with libraries sources.

Dominika Paleczna is a PhD student in Institute of Information and Book Studies of University of Warsaw (Poland) where she is doing a research about designing modern library search tools in Information Systems department and teach students about new techonology specialised for libraries. She wrote few scientific articles about discovery and delivery solutions, information literacy, social media and folksonomy. She also participated in translating IFLA guidelines “Key Issues for e-Resource Collection Development: A Guide for Libraries”. She was a speaker on many conference for scientists, librarians and students. Dominika Paleczna is also an editor of website for librarians bibliosfera.net. She is interested in following topic: modern library services, social media animation, information architecture, usability and library systems.
