Abstract
Currently the most powerful force of the state economy is the power of innovational ideas that are developed and implemented at the institutes, laboratories and by the individual scientists. Their activity is reflected in such kind of publications as abstracts of theses, articles, books, etc., so organization of access to these materials is very important. Perspective technology of popularization of scientific publications is providing of free access to electronic materials using specialized electronic archives – Institutional Repositories. Scientific Library of Lviv Polytechnic National University currently has collected a considerable number of electronic documents (collection started in 2007), namely books – 2000, thesis which was defended in Lviv Polytechnic National University – 400, items – 10000. This faced us with the problem of their storage, processing and effective way of providing these materials to the reader. That prompted IT department of Scientific Library of Lviv Polytechnic National University to create an institutional repository. Poster consists of three parts – the first part describes Open Access in Ukraine – some information about our country, the process of the development of institutional repositories in Ukraine over the past 5 years (characterized their contents and size). The second part is about Lviv Polytechnic National University and Scientific Library. And the last one is about institutional repository of Scientific Library of Lviv Polytechnic National University which was created 2 years ago.
Author's professional CV
Andrukhiv Andriy was born on June,1983 in Ukraine. In 2006 year graduated the Lviv Polytechnic National University, Department „Information systems and networks“ having obtained a degree in “Intelligent Decision and Support Systems”. After that 2 years worked as Assistant Professor on the Information Systems and Networks department. A head of IT Department of Scientific Library of Lviv Polytechnic National University since 2008 year Launched the next projects in Scientific Library – web site, web OPAC, institutional repository, recommendation system for book searching and other web-services. Has published more than 20 scientific papers and articles. Also, since 2011 work at the “Social communication and information technologies” department at Lviv Polytechinic National University as Assistant Professor. Professional activities – administration of computer networks, OS FreeBSD, introduction of new library technologies, web based programming (Apache+PHP+MySQL), CMS Drupal. Speaking in Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, English. Is interested in taking part in international research projects or programs to organize cooperation with other libraries in order to disseminate scientific information.
