Abstract

The section of academic libraries of the Slovak Association of Libraries has accomplished in last five years several questionnaire surveys focused on information education in the Slovak environment as well as considering the level of information literacy of the users of academic libraries (IGPAK). There, in these surveys focusing on providing the information education, were involved most of the academic libraries. The part of the questionnaires was to identify the scope and content of the information education as well as using and menaing of electronic information sources. The IGPAK surveys focused on the level of information literacy, on the impact of provided information education of univeristies and academic libraries and the other part of it concentrated on using the electronic information sources in education process. The results of particular surveys are summarized in the analytical study Information Education under the Conditions of Slovak Universities, – with the subtitle – Evaluation of Surveys of the Academic Libraries and Proposal of the Conception of the Education Process. The part of the study is proposing the content of information education at the Slovak academic schools. The aim of the authors is to persuade the competent bodies of the universities and the Ministry of Education and Sport of the SR about the neccesity to implement information education into the pedagogical process.

Daniela Gondová, Comenius University in Bratislava, Academic Library PhDr. Daniela Gondová, the graduate of the Dept. of Librarianship and Scientific Information of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Comenius University in Bratislava. She has been working in the University Library in Bratislava on various positions, since 1990 she has been the director of the Central Library of the Faculty of Philosophy of the Comenius University in Bratislava, since 1995 she has been a director of the Academic Library of the Comenius University in Bratislava, she is the long term member of the Slovak Librarians Association and actively works in the bodies of the Slovak Library Association.
