After shorter employment at the foreign trade organisation PZO Ligna Praha he started to work in 1972 at the branch information centre for metallurgical industry (Informetal) of the Iron and Steel Research Institute in Dobra (ISRI). Informetal was in early eighties one of the first Czechoslovak information centres frequently accessing and using international database centres – through then existing central information institute UVTEI-UTZ. Informetal started its own bibliographic database METAL in 1972 and in 1983 it became available to professional public in the database centre of UVTEI-UTZ. It was one of the most frequently used databases in this centre.
In 1994 he helped creation of the interest association Informetal, which was founded by metallurgical companies and related institutions and became director of this association. He still holds this position. In the period 2002–2004 he was investigator of the project of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MSMT) „Multifunctional information and library centre for metallurgical industry“. In the period 2005–2008 he was investigator of the MSMT project „Integrated information and library system for development of metallurgical industry“.
