It has been a long-term strategy of Tomas Bata University in Zlin to support the acquisition of a wide spectrum of electronic information resources relevant to all taught branches of science. The UTB Library leveraged in practice a whole fleet of tools to raise awareness of library activities. This article sums up all communication tools used with special focus on new trends like social networks, blogging, roaming librarians etc. After the introduction of these communication channels, we'll detail on their connections to electronic information resources and their use.

The author is a graduate of the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague. For more than five years has he been working at Tomas Bata University in Zlin, currently as the Library director. He has long term experience with electronic information resources, repositories and advanced tools for their management. He led a project to implement the Aleph IS at the Library and has a fundamental share on implementing the SFX technology in Library services. He also published several articles about SFX in journals.
