Ikaros (an electronic journal about the information society) started as a student activity at the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship (Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague) in early 1997. The first issue was published on 14th April 1997. Since November 2000 Ikaros has been published by Ikaros, o.s. (a civic association). The journal content focuses mainly on librarianship, information science, new trends in information industry and new media.
Inflow is an online magazine launched in 2008. This non-periodical e-zin is published under supervision of Faculty of Arts (MU), Division of Information Studies and Library Science (DISLS) in Brno. The wide range of authors is able to publish in the „Article“ section – both specialists or experts and students whose seminar papers or theses are at a high level. The editorial staff prepares scholarly articles, reports from conference or interviews with interesting people. Community spirit of the Inflow is supported especially by blogs and photo section where students, staff and graduates of DISLS publish their thoughts and views.
Knihovna – a review for librarians – brings theoretical studies from the domain of libraries, informs about successful projects of Czech and foreign libraries and about the active participation of the National Library of the Czech Republic in various Czech and international projects. Since 2005 it is published twice a year. Since 2008 the main articles are subject to independent review proceedings. The periodical offers a forum for professional activities consisting in theoretical research focusing upon concrete outputs that are utilizable in the practice. Each issue contains also novelties from foreign library related literature, namely annotated abstracts from foreign journals.
