Ikaros (an electronic journal about the information society) started as a student activity at the Institute of Information Studies and Librarianship (Faculty of Arts, Charles University in Prague) in early 1997. The first issue was published on 14th April 1997. Since November 2000 Ikaros has been published by Ikaros, o.s. (a civic association). The journal content focuses mainly on librarianship, information science, new trends in information industry and new media.

Radio LibRa started as a student project of Division of Information and Library Studies at the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University in 2007. Nowadays the functionality of the radio is ensured by volunteers – students and graduates from DILS. The basic principle of voluntariness and often change of editors forced LibRa to change from periodical publication to interviews and coverage of significant events in the information and library field – among them, of course, The Inforum conference. You can find the recordings of The LibRa in Inflow magazine which has also started as a student project shielded by DILS.

KP –SYS spol. s r.o. (Ltd.) was formed in 1995 and up to now the company has no foreign share. Since the very start of its existence the company has been dealing with the development of systems for libraries of any size, school or private ones. The first automatized library system was developed in 1996 in cooperation with the Institute of IT and Libraries of the Faculty of Philosophy UK in Prague. The original library system KP sys (DOS) and KP win ceased to meet today’s IT trends as well as library trends after some years. For those reasons a modern integrated modular system KpwinSQL (2006) and a new product of Verbis (2010) were created. Both of them are being used by more then 300 Czech libraries and IT centers.
LANius Ltd. was founded in 1996. The company is specialized in development of information systems for libraries. Main product, Library information system Clavius has been developed from 1999. In present time this system is widely implemented in more than 2500 libraries in Czech Republic and Slovakia. Library system core application works on the Windows operating system and interacts with SQL database and web server. Our new OPAC 2.0 Carmen has been developed in 2010.
