Abstract:

Slovak National Library tackles the project "Creating a network with the integration of scientific, academic and special libraries, including their modernization." The overall objective is to facilitate access to businesses, as well as academic and scientific community access to information and thereby contribute to innovation in industry and building a knowledge-based economy in Slovakia. By this project was created enhanced library facilities through construction modifications. These modifications created a space that serves as the Information Scientific Center, which provides a higher standard of quality library information services through electronic information resources. After completion of the latest computer technology and modern information technology departments are able to provide their services electronically. Users receive directly full information, according to their specific requirements. Since the project is expected to especially the extension of library, information and advisory services and improving their quality, increase the use of the Internet and modern information technology by small and medium-sized businesses, work with information through electronic information resources, the growth of the knowledge level of users tending to increase the economic benefits, the information link scientific, academic and specialized libraries for the purpose of cooperation in providing information from the widest spectrum of information resources.

About author:

I am a graduate of the University of Matej Bel in Banska Bystrica, Department of History. I work in the Slovak National Library in Martin since 1996. Since 2006, leading Division of reference services and go in for the electronic information sources, their purchases, access to and use of the Library. From the same year I also national coordinator of a national license EBSCO databases provided by the Slovak National Library in Martin since 1999 to all academic, scientific, public and special libraries in Slovakia. Since 2009 I am the Head of the electronic services and coordinate the implementation and fulfillment of the project "Creating a network with the integration of scientific, academic and special libraries, including their modernization." In this project, I conduct Information Scientific Center and I am leading a working group on Information Scientific Centers in Slovakia. I lecture on searches, strategies and principles, the system searches in the OPAC Virtua, EBSCOhost, and more. I publish articles on electronic sources of information, the disclosure and use. From January 2008 I work as a Freelance Trainer - search and lecture on the use of electronic information resources for the company Elsevier.
