Electronic Resources and Digital Libraries for Visually Impaired

Abstract:
The article deals with specifics of some electronic resources and digital libraries for visually impaired. One of them is using special software and hardware for reading of the digital documents. The second specificity is that the electronic recources are often based on printing patterns – publications that are not available for visually impaired users. The first fact reflects on final form of the digital document (electronic format, structure, adaptation of the grafic elements). The second fact is needed to take into account when the digital libraries for visually impaired are built; especially with building of the electronic catalogue. There will be also present some current digital libraries for visually impaired in the article.
About author:
He graduated in information science and librarianship from Masaryk University in Brno. At present he works as a librarian in Support centre for students with special needs of Masaryk University and studies at Seminar of aesthetics at Masaryk University. He is applies to problems of libraries for visually impaired persons. He speaks about the subject at conferences and wrights articles. He considers to cataloguing of the documents for visuall impaired users and he participates in making internet interface for catalogues of libraries for visually impaired persons.
