The National Digital Library: The Portal Site of the Digital Information Resource!

Abstract:
Along with the two principles of "integration" and "openness", the National Digital Library is in progress of establishing the vision of “building the portal of the worldwide digital libraries.” The direction of the construction of the National Digital Library approaches from the two big different directions. The first is to construct a separate building to accommodate the collection, process, and preservation. The second is to carry out the research and develop projects in order for construction of contents and information technology and information service of the digital library, which is the new paradigm of a library. The building of the National Digital Library will have three floors above ground and five floors underground. For operational and management strategies, there will be five objectives; that is, developing the collection management system of the National Digital Library, building the National Digital Library portal, building the information commons, enhancing the digital archiving, and establishing the operation reformation of the digital system. And further, the detailed plans for each goal tasks and the performance tasks have been established for the next four year plans from the year of 2007 to 2010.
