The paper will present ongoing work on the international project "Knowledge Transfer for the Digitisation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage in Bulgaria", 2004-2007. The coordinator of the project is the Institute of mathematics and informatics at the Bulgarian academy of sciences. The primary objective of the endeavour is to boost activities related to digitization of various cultural and scientific collections in Bulgaria. This is the most significant and large-scale initiative in the field of digitization in Bulgaria in the recent years and it envisages work on archive collections (jointly with the National Archives), mediaeval manuscripts (jointly with the National Library), audio-archives (jointly with the Institute for Bulgarian Language), mathematical heritage, edutainment, etc.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikola Ikonomov is chair of the Laboratory for Phonetics and Speech Communication at the Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. In the last year he is actively involved in the project KT-DigiCult-Bg Project: Digitisation of Cultural and Scientific Heritage in Bulgaria as a quality manager. His professional interests recently are concentrated on digitisation of audio archives. He is an author of five books and over 60 publications.
