CTK Documentary Databases - A Source of Useful Information

Abstract

The CTK documentary databases provide a detailed daily updated survey of political, business and cultural life in the Czech Republic including development materials.

The Czech Republic database contains chronologies and statistic surveys from various branches of human activities. The Regions database contains in addition to the characteristics of the 14 regions also surveys of the regions´ economy, development of unemployment and election results. The EU database contains data on European institutions, events, important contracts and EU programmes. The Countries of the World database contains important political, macroeconomic, historical and geographical data on selected states of the world. The World database contains topical surveys of significant world events. The Expected Events database contains events scheduled in the Czech Republic as well as in the world in next months and years. The Anniversaries database contains the dates of significant anniversaries of important events and personalities.

All above mentioned documentary databases can be accessed to users in the CTK Infobank environment at: www.ctk.cz

The session will focus on selected practical demonstrations of the use of the mentioned databases.

About the author

The author graduated from the Pedagogical Faculty of Charles University in Prague and was granted the professional diploma in management at The Open University.

In 1997 - 2000 he was the executive secretary of NEWTON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY, s.r.o. which monitors the media.

Since 2002 he has been a management member of ČEKIA, a.s. which compiles, creates and distributes company information.

Since 1993 he has been the Commercial Director of the Czech News Agency. He is responsible for marketing, sales and promotion.
