Abstrakt

Oxford University Press is the world's largest university press, publishing over 4,500 new books each year. During this presentation we will show the innovative approach we have taken to the publication of our books online by demonstrating 2 new services: Oxford Scholarship Online (www.oxfordscholarship.com) and Oxford Reference Online (www.oxfordreference.com). Oxford Scholarship Online is a pioneering, cross-searchable database which brings together the complete text of over 700 scholarly books in the humanities and social sciences, with at least 200 new books added each year as part of the annual subscription. Specially-written abstracts and keywords are available at book and chapter level, and these are available free of charge - both within the service and alongside journals’ abstracts in other online services. DOIs at book and chapter level, reference linking from bibliographies and footnotes, and unlimited user pricing and access models are just some of many other unique features of this service that we will cover during the demonstration. Unlimited concurrent user licences are also available for the award-winning Oxford Reference Online which brings together the complete text 120 Oxford dictionary and reference books into a fully cross-searchable database. As we will show, this invaluable and cost-effective online reference library covers everything from Art to Zoology, and includes a wide range of English and bilingual dictionaries.

Susanna Lob joined Oxford University Press in 1999 to launch the online edition of the Oxford English Dictionary - OUP's first online subscription service. She is now Sales and Marketing Director of Oxford Online, and is responsible for all aspects of the sales and marketing of Oxford's expanding portfolio of online services outside North and South America. This include Oxford Scholarship Online, Oxford Reference Online, Grove Art Online, Grove Music Online, the American National Biography Online and the forthcoming Oxford Dictionary of National Biography Online (see www.oxfordonline.com for further details).
