Corporate Information Centre and CI Programme in the Context of KM
Mária Dologová, Slovnaft, a.s.; Slovak Republic
The rise of the Knowledge Economy changes the current paradigm. It the corporate setting it means the change of orientation
towards knowledge as well as towards processes related to its acquisition, creation, sharing, use and re-use. The ability to
create
and share knowledge quickly and effectively will be the main source of the sustainable competitive advantage of the
companies in the
near future. Though the orientation towards knowledge is not the invention of the last years, the realisation of its full
importance in
companies and corporations has considerable impact on the nature of work and the position of various activities within these
organisations - incl. their information centres.
On the basis of an example of CI pilot the contribution will present the possibilities of information centre incorporation
in a KM
programme in the company. Within the contribution the enablers of such a programme, CSF as well as the potential barriers
will be
discussed at the beginning. In the second part the possibilities and forms of information centre co-operation will be
presented (the
position in a suitable org. structure, roles and activities as well as the competencies required).
