"LibWeb", Bibliographic Information concerning English Language ISBNs Online

This session will present an online service for bibliographic searching of English language ISBNs and demonstrate the
advantages
and benefits of this bibliographic service online to save librarian's time and bring added value to the library.
Whitaker is the ISBN Agency of the UK and publisher of Books In Print. Together with data from ISBN Agencies in the USA,
Australia and South Africa, Whitaker has produced "LibWeb" a definitive online bibliographic service specifically designed
for
use in libraries. It is updated daily enabling the librarian to find books in the English Language globally, using simple
and fast
online searches. "LibWeb" includes enhanced data including Book cover images, tables of contents and long descriptions. In
addition, the online provision can save library staff and academics much time and expense. This session is of interest to
all involved
in book selection for library or educational purposes.
Colin Bethell is the International Director of Library Services for
Whitaker Information Services. Based in the UK and servicing worldwide access by libraries to bibliographic databases. Colin
has much experience in both education, and in (print and electronic) publishing. He has extensive international experience
in the library sector. Mainly working for publishers in the academic arena has enabled him to successfully localize products
and services to the needs of the educational institutions and libraries.
