| This year as well as the last year an daughter of ours was born. She is a very cute girl. We named her
AiP*Safe. The important day of her registration by the Commercial Court in Prague happened to be the 11th on November 99. What a magic date!
This newly established company is developing a new system of the same name for you. The system works for saving, providing, archiving and
selling documents. The basic principle and core of the AiP*Safe system is the DOBM structure (very similar to XML standard, which isn’t
however 100% stabilized yet), that Albertina icome Prague developed in cooperation with the National Library of the Czech Republic for a
project of digitalization of old manuscripts and rare prints called “The memory of the world”. The DOBM structure was recommended by the
UNESCO as a method for electronic document description. Our system is however not usable only for manuscripts and library use. It’s use is
very wide and flexible. It goes far behind the border of our library-oriented activities. There are already running couple of projects that
are based on this system. Among the most interesting ones belong the digitalization of periodicals from microfilms in the National Library,
the economical journals digitalization for the Chamber of Tax Advisors etc. |
